Were you glued to the ‘Great British Sewing Bee’ and fancied having a go?
Or are you in need of refreshing your school sewing lessons? Then why not join Wiltshire based craft business, ‘The Make Arcade’, for a fun and informal day of sewing at Minstead Study Centre!
We will start the day covering the basics of the sewing machine, fabric cutting and pattern techniques by making simple tote style bags and then go on to create and demystify the process of making very cute metal framed purses. Both projects lend themselves perfectly to helping you to gain confidence on the sewing machine and understand different fabrics.
All materials are included. Bring your own lunch.
Along with experienced and patience tuition and support, each student will go home with original patterns, comprehensive instructions and a list of suppliers – the ideal way to create your designs again and again! Your tutor, Ruth Oliver has over 20 years experience sewing, designing and creating. Having learnt to sew at a very young age she went on to study fashion and accessory design at the London College of Fashion. A career in designing luggage, handbags and accessories followed with a more recent stint making hats at a Royal milliners. A lifelong and passionate crafter and seamstress, Ruth set up The Make Arcade in 2013 to enable the pleasure and practicality of sewing and making to continue to new generations.
